Wow, what a hidden gem! I only recently discovered this place while I've been hanging out at the Central Library on weekends during the terrible heat waves we've been having. I read the reviews and people mentioned the chicken banh mi and I am a sucker for banh mis, one of my fave sandwiches. They are only open on Saturdays for shorter hours over the weekend- so I popped by a few weeks ago. It's located across from the Bloc, along a block of other restaurants like Sweetfin Poke and Northern Cafe. You just order at the counter when you walk in, they have a few tables downstairs and an upstairs area as well. The restaurant is clean and cool, perfect for a hot summer day. I ordered the Chicken Banh Mi, both times I've been there (2x) and it was soo good. The ingredients were fresh and the chicken was still warm and had great flavor. I will probably have to start venturing outside of the banh mi (I think they have pork belly which is naughty), to try their other options, I'm sure they are all great too. Apologies for my blurry photo, I was too excited to eat! I would definitely recommend coming here, let's support local businesses, it's a tough time out there for everyone.

I rarely write reviews, but Marie’s Coffee Deli is one of those special places that deserves to be recognized. I have been coming here for more than ten years, and whenever I am downtown, this is where I eat. The family that runs Marie’s works incredibly hard, but what has always stood out to me is how warm, personable, and genuinely caring they are. They somehow remember details from conversations and things I have shared with them over the years, even when a long time has passed between visits. That kind of connection is rare, and it is one of the reasons this place has always meant more to me than just a good place to get lunch. The food is consistently excellent, and the produce is some of the freshest you will find anywhere. They go to the produce market every morning to make sure they are using fresh ingredients, and you can absolutely taste the difference in their sandwiches and salads. Marie’s also made it through the enormous challenges of COVID, which says a great deal about the family’s perseverance, work ethic, and the loyalty they have earned from their customers. Awesome sandwiches! I come to LA from the SF Bay Area few times a year for meetings. I always visit Marie’s at least once during my stay. I have taken my family there too. They also love it. Mr. Lam is very friendly and takes good care of his customers. Their Banh Mi is very delicious. They also have high quality coffee. They have plenty of tables on the second floor where I enjoy my coffee and sandwiches many times.

Best flavored and presented bánh mì—details truly matter here. Chicken was tender, juicy, and beautifully seasoned. Side salad crisp, fresh, and thoughtfully done—everything aesthetically on point. A friendly owner made it feel even more special. Tried to order another—sold out. Pork belly to go for dinner, just as good. I’ll be back soon.

A cute deli tucked in the streets of LA. No frills, and simple. Grabbed a egg, tomato and bacon everything bagel. Delicious coffee and a decent bagel. Wish they had sausage for the bagels in stead but it was delicious. Would come back again.
